Coach Rachelle, U10 Red Team.
This evening the U10 Red Team and I presented Coach Rachelle with a Chairman’s Recognition Award. Her team was super excited and extremely proud of their hard-working and caring Coach. This is an award we’ve been eagerly waiting to present and was an easy decision for the Committee.
Since joining Maidenbower Colts FC, Rachelle has consistently demonstrated that she deeply cares about the welfare and development of her Players. Her team quickly became successful and that one team grew into three, each now led by great Coaches.
Like each member of our dedicated Coaching Team, Rachelle spends hours meticulously planning sessions, ensuring there are elements that will benefit each team member. She coaches in a way that allows them to make their own decisions and even learn from their mistakes – an important learning experience for both football and life in general.
Following a strong season last time around, Coach Rachelle took the decision to challenge her team this season by entering them into the Tandridge League where they continue to do really well. When not playing league games, she is organising friendly games against other clubs to ensure every one of her players gets the maximum game time to practice what’s been done in training.
But what has really stood out for us is that she has recognised that in order to keep developing her Players she had to keep developing herself.
Whilst continuing with her psychology degree, studying for her level 2 Counselling Skills course, working as a Teaching Assistant, and being Mum to James, she decided to take on the UEFA C Licence course. And in standard Rachelle style, she smashed it.
This is a really involved course with both theory and practical elements to it, with a pass or fail assessments.
Coach Rachelle said of her experience completing the UEFA C Licence:
“I applied to do the UEFA C Licence so I could learn more about coaching and developing players on a deeper level.
The course offered a variety of insights such as session plans, self-reflections, training sessions, and match days.
I started gradually implementing changes after the first module and already notice the difference in my training sessions now from 5 months ago. There is a higher level of engagement, ball rolling time, and touches on the ball. The team has more quality time to focus on the learning objectives of each session.
I finished the course feeling empowered and inspired to make changes in myself to be a better coach and to develop players. I look forward to continuing to implement changes in the future. I feel a lot more relaxed and confident in myself as a coach.
Thank you to the FA for giving me this opportunity and to the tutors for delivering the course David, Matt, Nigel & Pam.”
Congratulations on your qualification Coach Rachelle and congratulations on your well-deserved
Chairman’s Recognition Award. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the club and your team.
