We had a 2pm late kick off for our match against Southwick Rangers. The match did not go accordinging to plan and we had a very frustrating experience.
The team did not play their best football and were lacking in areas. Several chances were missed and we were not playing simple football and passing the ball between us! The pitch was in poor shape and that really didn’t help us either.
Just before halftime George pulled his hamstring and had to retire from the match, which was a big loss.
At half time we drew 0-0 and I knew we could do better.
We tried a different formation but it left us exposed in midfield and it was disappointing to watch. The break came from a midfield run by Jack M, who passed the ball to Kieran and the captain put us in front with a good goal.
One minute of simple football gave us the goal we desperately needed. We then needed to reshape to manage and protect the slender lead, which the team did well.
A very scrappy game of football but we found the way to win! I have seen us play better and lose, so on a bad day we will take the 3 points and focus on the next match.
Congratulations to Kieran our captain selected as Player Of The Match for digging deep and getting the goal we needed.
Well done team for finding a way through.
