We are privileged that you have chosen us for your child to join and play football. The Club’s ethos is one of developing players in a fun, interesting, and supportive environment. If your child is joining us at a young age, with no previous experience of playing football, the Club puts great emphasis on the children developing their technical capabilities and learning about football. We put no pressure on the players or coaches to win matches at any cost. If this sits uncomfortably with you and you demand your child should be winning trophies in their first season, this is probably the wrong Club for you.
However, we are pleased to confirm we are England Football Accredited, and all members associated with the Club strive for best practice in everything they action on behalf of the Club.
Please refer to the Club website for our policies and procedures; we would ask you to take the time to become familiar with these important documents. This will enable you to see that we do adhere to all that is expected of an FA Accredited Football Club, but it also gives information on what we expect of you, as parents/supporters.
Regarding how the Club functions, this is something that we like to thank our committed volunteers for as they take the time to play a part in their children’s sport. Our volunteers range from administrative functions, committee members, and team Coaches. Without the dedication of each of our helpers, the Club could not continue, and the children would not have a foundation to work on.
Continuing with the important role of the team Coaches, this is something that we would like to introduce you to, if you have an interest as a parent/guardian, as a member of the Club. Your child may be joining a brand-new team within Maidenbower Colts Football Club or may be joining an established team. On both counts, the role of the Coach is important, but we feel we could never have enough Coaches on board to ensure the correct level of support and consistency is given to the children.
You may well find the perception of becoming a Coach a daunting one – it should not be! If you speak with any of our existing Coaches, they will all tell you what a rewarding experience it is and that they would not want to give it up! What a great way to spend your spare time: helping the development of our young players and learning more about the game yourself.
To become a Coach, we would initially ask you to commit to undertaking the FA Level One Coaching Course. There are several courses throughout the year, held locally, and the cost of this would be reimbursed by the Club in 50% installments over a two-year period. As a qualified Coach supporting the Club, you would also benefit from a £5 per month reduction in subscriptions. It doesn’t get much better than that – a qualification and a reduced monthly fee, you can’t go wrong!
Once the qualification is achieved, the FA License is available too, and for three one-hour sessions of CPD a year, it is easily obtainable.
We would also need a completed DBS (CRB) application, which must be undertaken for all personnel who may be working with the children on a consistent basis.
The main commitment you must give is to take one training session a week for the team you are involved in and guide the children in their weekly football games. There are several leagues available for you to decide which one to enter, of which some leagues play on Saturday and some are on Sunday. As with the Club’s other teams, all finance is centralised. Registration fees are collected upon signing on; subscriptions are paid monthly by standing order or by an upfront payment. Kit and equipment will be ordered on your behalf, and summer tournaments are booked by a designated Tournament Officer. We try and take the pain away from the coaches so they can concentrate on the football.
Should you wish to discuss any of the above further, please contact one of the members, and we will be more than happy to discuss your questions.
Furthermore, we also have a team of Committee members who work hard to sustain the Club overall, and we meet monthly to discuss all aspects. The minutes are shared with the rest of the Club as we believe transparency is an important part of being able to trust the Club you are part of. We are proud of the way the Club runs but we can always do with more helpers as without them it would not happen. Maybe you would like to get involved in another way, so please do not be shy, step forward and join the Club wholeheartedly!
Regards
