U10 Red Team – Tandridge League Gold Cup Semi-Final
Coach Rachelle said:
“Today we played our Semi-Final of the Gold Cup, and we were really hoping it wouldn’t be called off. With the pitch sorted, we went out and started the game in the rain.
The opposition put the pressure on from the start and gave us a physical challenge throughout the game.
Colts came off the pitch after being a goal down at half time but where this is usually a time where their heads might drop, they were full of positivity and talked about how they had won a final already this season and how they can’t always win everything.
They went back out and played the second half of the game with a huge amount of determination. They increased the speed of play, moved the ball around the pitch well, and continued to work together as a team and communicated throughout.
Players player – James, chosen by Louis, for getting his head up on the far side and letting his team mates know he was an option. Louis found it hard to choose 1 player today (as do we as coaches at times), but he wanted to say well done Aaban, Toby, and Marco.
POTM – James. When he puts his mind to it, he plays amazingly. His positioning was spot on today, as was his attitude. He persevered today when he experienced failure and eventually achieved success. From being in the right position, he assisted a goal and also scored a great goal of his own, taking a one touch shot with his weaker foot.
The goal of the match has to go to Toby, who took a shot of precision backed with power near the halfway line.
Aaban has impressed me in training for our last two sessions, and today, he has tried harder to put more power behind the ball. Just as the game was coming to an end, he picked up a burst of energy and ran super fast from a long distance to gain possession of the ball as it went towards the oppositions goalkeeper”
Well done team, off to the Gold Cup finals we go! 👏🏻
