“First game of 2023 in the sun with a closely-fought game.
A great opportunity for the team to get some practice in ahead of their final in 2 weeks time.
The second quarter saw the team take the lead with the first goal after missing their previous shots.
There was some lovely movement of the ball from the midfield team who made quick decisions to release the ball at the right time and pass to each other to get the ball up the pitch.
The defence team tried hard in the last quarter to clear the ball and played some long balls up the pitch but the opposition kept going and equalised in the last quarter.
We were without our Goalkeeper today (missed you Harry), so the team had to rotate in goal and play in some different positions outfield. It’s never an easy task and the dynamic changes but there are some developmental gains from these situations. Thank you to Louis, Branden & James for going in goal today.
Thank you to Thomas for coming along to play with the team too.
Player’s player – Nehan, chosen by Toby, for passing well and getting into good spaces.
POTM – Nehan. After a month abroad, today was his first game since he returned. We have really missed him on the left wing whilst he was away.
Today he positioned himself well, released the ball at the right time to avoid being stuck in 2 v 1 and 3 v 1 situations and made good decisions throughout the match.
He took his chances and regained possession of the ball from the goalkeeper then took a shot at an open goal. It was one of those moments where the ball rolled slowly towards the goal and we wasn’t sure if it would go in or not but it and was only a couple of seconds away from being intercepted by the opposition.”
