Maidenbower Colts FC U7 Red Team
Coach Tom said:
“The last game of the season was upon us, and with the rain falling, it felt more like autumn than Spring.
However, although the weather was miserable, the football match certainly wasn’t.
Colts faced a tough opponent in the final game of the season in the Crawley League. The game started well for Colts. Quick out of the blocks they didn’t give the opponent any time on the ball and had the ball in the back of the net in no time when Will battling in the box saw the ball ricochet over the line. ⚽️
Straight from kick off, any colts were dominant with some excellent battling in the midfield from Capt Nola, winning it back and again. Will up front finding the finish ⚽️.
The fast start continued, and Parker was working hard on the right, pressing with Harry B on the left, doing likewise the opposition couldn’t get anything going. Guess who popped up in the box again, Will, with a neat finish, making it a quick fire hatrick👏🏻 ⚽️ .
With Colts sensing more goals, everyone crept forward, wanting to get in on the scoresheet. It was Harry B that got the next goal, much deserved after some slick play and a neat finish. ⚽️
With everyone bombing forward it left a few gaps at the back, and with the opponent exploiting the space, Cody in goal was called upon late in the half, making an outstanding save and reach to stop the ball form going over the line 👏🏻🧤
The second half started, and with the opponent having the powerplay extra player, it was more even. However, with Colts still driving forward with Caydens energy and pace, Harry B found a bit of space amongst the crowd, beat a player, and slotted in past the keeper ⚽️
With Toby in defence sneaking forward, creating some good chances for others going on some mazing runs and getting the ball into Cayden on one occasion who hit it first time only for it to skim the edge of the post and go wide. Some great play. 👏🏻
Harry J, in goal second half, was largely kept quiet, but when call upon smothered the ball well and focused on distributing the ball quicker and out wide, starting some good passing play.
With the game drawing to a close, Cody eager to get a goal got his reward with some brave pressing, never giving up, and managed to poke the ball over the line⚽️
Special mention to POTM 🏆 Nola. Showing leadership & determination throughout the entire game. Never giving up and so close to getting that goal everyone wanted. 👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻💪🏻
The game & season came to an end with a fantastic performance from the team. All the players thoroughly enjoy it, all asking who we are playing next week 🤣
Coaches and parents are extremely proud of all the players this season. How far they have come, the highs and lows, the fun, the laughs, the tears (the tantrums 🤣). All part of the sport we love and playing together as a team. What a great bunch.
