Danny will be stepping back from the role of Mini Soccer Lead at Maidenbower Colts FC in order to focus on the Club’s ever growing Pan Disability Football Section, something he is incredibly passionate about. Both Danny and Geoff will continue to grow the section which now includes a U16 Session. This means we now offer disability recreation football from school year 4 through to school year 11.
Stepping into the role of Mini Soccer Lead will be Tom Hambly. Tom is currently the Coach of our U8 Red Team and also the U8 White Team, which is a development session.
In his role as Mini Soccer Lead, Tom will offer support and guidance to all Coaches and teams from U7 to U10 as they move through this important development phase. Tom will also ensure that our Mini Soccer provision meets and exceeds England Football’s objectives and philosophy for children playing football in the foundation years. Additionally, Tom will work with new Coaches as they take on new teams and transition from our Mini Colts Section, playing recreational football, to playing league football in the Crawley & District Youth Football League.
Tom Hambly, Mini Soccer Lead said:
“I’m extremely proud to be taking up the role of Mini Soccer Lead for Maidenbower Colts FC.
There is no better feeling than giving young children the opportunity to play the sport they love.
I’m extremely passionate about ensuring children have fun in a safe, inclusive and positive environment where the children can not only develop their footballing abilities, but also enhance their social skills & wellbeing.
I’m excited to continue our work in seeing all the children progress in their footballing journey, plus encourage any aspiring coaches to get involved in a fantastic and supportive club”
Richie Coleman, Club Chairperson said:
“I’m really pleased Tom has agreed to take on this role. With his enthusiasm and drive, he is the perfect person to carry on from the excellent work done previously by Danny.
Tom is the very first person to offer his help and support to any Coaches needing it and he is always involved in club wide initiatives.
Tom will be a fantastic addition to both the Coaching Leadership Team and the Club Committee.
Our new Coaching Leadership Team now comprises of:
Richard O’Neil – Head of Football & Coaching
Tom Hambly – Mini Soccer Lead
Karen Bowles – Girls Section Lead
Danny Picknell – Pan Disability Football Lead.
With the recent appointments to the Club’s Committee of Karen, Tom and Emma Kenyon (DE&I Lead), the Club’s leadership is greater in number than it has been for some years and importantly more diverse. It is also a much broader platform to deliver the Club’s development and growth plans for the future.”
